So I have to start somewhere - so why not from the head of the list?
#2 - participating in a musical.
I can sure say I did it:)
I can't even begin saying how fun it was.
I really can't wait till I'll be able to do something like that again.
Too bad I didn't blog about it during the whole process. Though I was way buzzy during those days.
Well I should start from the beginning.
Someday during September I got a call - way to early in the morning - from a man with a heavy american accent (in Hebrew) : "hello, am I talking to Noa, the singer?" "sure..." "what are you doing tonight?" "ummm I'm not sure" "so come audition to the musical "Joseph" I'm directing" "sure!"
Well - the day before i sent some e-mails to some people that I'm interested to be invited for auditions - but I didn't expect them to call so soon.
So I went to the audition and sang "for good" from wicked, and was accepted as one of the 11 brothers. Later I was cast as Levi - which really had no further meaning to it (as brothers- most scenes and lines were done together as a group) accept for the 1st song when they introduced the brothers and i turned and yelled "Levi!" and another scream on the second act when they searched us for the stolen precious golden cup ("is it Levi?" "nooo").
In addition I participated as a dancer - it meant to be in the front row for most of the dances (which is always fun) and two solo parts - first in a jazz part during "the dreamer has to go" song, and the second as Joseph's conscious during "close every door" - which was a modern dance.
The whole process was great- our director - Micheal Berl is absolutely an amazing person full of knowledge and ideas. It was so fun learning from him about this whole amazing theatric world he created for us. It was fun - from the first steps when we just sat and learned the songs and the harmonies to the blocking and acting on stage.
The cast was so fun, inspiring, and willing to participate - it was great. Yes, I was one of the older members- but every body was great and I think I made some new friends.
Of course the shows were awesome as well. We had 5 days - 7 shows. The first show (Thursday) Amir, Hela and her mom came. they sat in the center of the 1st row. It was fun, though I had to work extra hard not to look at them only and not to smile at them all the time.
On the Monday shows (shows #2-#3) no one came for me - but at the early show we had some big groups of kids from different schools, including one group of kids with down syndrome. needless to say - that was the best audience ever! One girl ran to Jimmy (who played- Elvis-pharaoh) after the show - all shaking and yelling "you're ELVIS! OMG!" :-)
My family came to the Tuesday show. They sat in the 3rd or 4th row, in the middle - my dad and Rotem (my baby sis) kept making funny faces at me every time I looked. and I looked at the allot. The pictures below are from that show as well.
On Wednesday we also had 2 shows (#5 and #6) - #5 was also sesame street (as Michael calls it). To the #6 show came ALLOT of my friends - 6 from med school (Jude, Ofer, Olivia, Limor, Meni and Lital) and two way-back friends Inbal and Stav. I didn't manage to see where any of them were sitting during the whole show so i kept trying to look around. The only one I saw was Ofer and Olivia who sat right where I came out during the Pharaoh song (we came out from behind the crowd).
When they yelled "Pharaoh has entered the building" I grabbed Ofer's shoulder and screamed"Oh my goooooood". His face was hysterical :-)
The last show was hard. It was hard to believe it is over. It was also hard because the audience was less than polite- they barely clapped and laughed... But as Michael said - the last show is "a gift of memory" and we did that show for each other. And it really was like that.
I had a surprise - an old friend from the army - Tal, came to see that show with her fiancée. I saw him sometime during the 1st act and I thought "hey that look's like Tal's...." and then i saw her. I swear I could have burst into tears. One more person I could dedicate a show to.
Yes. It feels like that. I didn't know it's like that but it is. Whenever someone came to see me I felt like I'm doing the whole show to make them smile and have fun. Each and every one of them. That feeling drove me to do my best during all those shows- to feel the most, to sing the best, to dance the hardest I can. It's amazing what that feeling could bring out from you.
So I really want to thank all that came, and those who couldn't (did I mention we sold out two weeks before the show?). I love you all.
